CHANGING THE BIBLE

Revelation 22

18.  I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book

19.  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

 

Who would want to change the Bible?

Why would they want to change the Bible?

For example: How about the Humanists and others of like mind?

The Humanist Manifesto 1 and 2 of 1933 and 1973

Humanist Manifesto Doctrine 13:

   Religious humanism maintains that all associations and institutions exist for the fulfillment of human life.

 The intelligent evaluation, transformation, control,and direction of such associations and institutions with a view to the enhancement of human life is the purpose and program of humanism.

   Certainly religious institutions, their ritualistic forms, ecclesiastical methods, and communal activities must be reconstituted as rapidly as experience allows, in order to function effectively in the modern world.

   First notice that Humanism is a religion.   Notice the word 'control' in Doctrine thirteen. For clarification, we will rephrase sentences one and two. They said, "The control and direction of all associations is the purpose and program of humanism."

   They said the institutions to be controlled and directed include religious institutions. Religious institutions include Christian Churches, public and private schools, universities, seminaries, etc.. Put your thinking cap on, do you think Humanists should be involved in the 'control and direction' of Christian Churches, schools and seminaries? Wouldn't that be like putting the fox in charge of the hen house? Or appointing the wolf to the job of shepherd of the sheepfold?

   Reread the thirteenth doctrine of Humanism. Notice that Humanists use code words for Christianity and believe that they must 'reconstitute', 'reinterpret' and 'redefine' Christianity 'as rapidly as experience allows'. ("as fast as they can get away with it")

"Some humanists believe we should reinterprettraditional religions and reinvest them with meanings appropriate to the current situation. Suchredefinitions, however, often perpetuate old dependencies and escapisms; they easily become obscurantist, impeding the free use of the intellect. We need, instead, radically new human purposes and goals." Humanist Manifesto 2 (1973)

Jude 1:3-5

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

4 For there are certain men (claiming humanist credentials) crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men(non-theists), turning (reinterpret, reinvest and reconstitute ) the grace of our God into lasciviousness, ('new morality') and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.)

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

   In the Humanist Manifesto 2  Christianity is referred to as 'traditional dogmatic or authoritarian religions'. Humanists believe that Christian beliefs are 'myths, dependencies and escapisms'.

   Here we find them saying, "humanists believe we should reinterpret traditional religions and reinvest them with meanings appropriate to the current situation."

   In Manifesto I, Doctrine Thirteen it was said, "(religious institutions) must be reconstituted as rapidly as experience allows." As rapidly as experience allows means, "As fast as we can get away with it."

   How is this Humanist reinterpreting, reinvestment and reconstituting of Christian Churches and institutions to be accomplished? The answer, in part, is in the preface where it is written. "Many within religious groups, believing in the future of humanism, now claim humanist credentials".

   Here we have the ungodly feeling that it is their duty to infiltrate, reinterpret, reinvest and reconstitute Christianity. How would they do this? In plain English, the Bible tells us in Jude 1.

Below is a list of some of the many changes made since the King James Version was published along with comments. The Living Bible is dealt with separately.

In the King James Jesus is God whereas in the other Bible he is just a god.

2 Samuel 21:19 Then there was another battle with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, killed Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. Revised Standard Version (RSV)

Who killed Goliath, David or Elhanan?

2 Samuel 23:5 Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? (RSV)

Is "my house" with or not with God?Hosea 11:12. and Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One.  (NIV)

Which way is it? With or against?Genesis 3:15. I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. Douay

Protestants believe that 'his' is Jesus Christ. The Douay-Rheims translation is a Catholic Jesuit version. Here Mary (she -her) replaces Jesus (his)

Psalm 55:19. God shall hear, and bring them low, even he that has existed from eternity. Pause. For they suffer no reverse, and thereforethey have not feared God. (Septuagint)

For some of those we call 'the  wicked' there is no redemption. But perhaps they do not want you to know that.

KJV. "no changes" They will not change.

Should Christians Love The Wicked?

Matthew 5:44. But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (RSV)

RSV wants us to pray for our persecutors.

Half of the RSV verse has been deleted.

RSV - missingMatthew 18:11. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.  (KJV)Perhaps this verse is not important so THEY left it out. Perhaps they believe Jesus is not the only savior. Perhaps they believe we should save ourselves. Perhaps they believe we do not need Jesus?

The day or hour of what? It is not in the RSV or NIV.

Jesus said, "I and the Father are one". This addition makes Jesus a liar. Also, that Jesus does not know when he will return.

Perhaps since salvation is a free gift you need do nothing except watch TV.

When you become a Christian there is a change in life and a cross to bear.

Mark 10:24. Children, how hard is to enter into the kingdom of God! RSV)

Mark 10:24. ... Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!  (KJV)Which is it?

1. Hard for children to enter.
2. Hard for the rich to enter.
3. Hard for those who trust in riches to enter.

In 3 being rich is not the problem. Making an idol of money is the problem. Those who believe in the RSV (1) or NIV (2) might just be persuaded give all their money to the preacher.

Mark 13:14. But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains; RSVMark 13:14. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation,spoken of by Daniel the prophet,standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:  (KJV)They don't like the prophecy of Daniel so they simply delete the reference.

How will you know when to flee if you don't understand Daniel?

Luke 2:14. "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased" RSVLuke 2:14. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  (KJV)One verse favors a few and the other all men. It is just a subtle change isn't it?Luke 4:4. And Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'man shall not live by bread alone." RSV

Luke 4:4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.  (KJV)Perhaps they don't think every word is important, so they just take out a few words here and a few there.2 Timothy 3:16. Every scripture inspired of God and is also profitable for teaching. RSV2 Timothy 3:16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, ...  (KJV)Is it every or all? Is it just inspired scriptures that are profitable meaning that some scripture is not inspired? Is scripture for teaching or doctrine.

And who is going to tell you which scripture is inspired and which scripture you can safely ignore? The pastor of a 501c3 church perhaps?

A little change here and a little there.

Luke 9:55-56. But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village. (RSV)

Luke 9:55-56. But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. But he turned and rebuked them. 56.  For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. (KJV)The other versions remove the rebuke. Perhaps a Humanist version of "Judge not"?Acts 28:28.  Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."

30. And he lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, (RSV)

Acts 28:28.  Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

Let's be one happy family. Verse 29 is controversy. In the RSV - gone. The Bible is divisive and that will not do with those waning a one world religion.

Does Revelation 22:19 apply here?

19.  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

1 Corinthians 10:28. (But if some one says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then out of consideration for the man who informed you, and for conscience' sake -- (RSV)1 Corinthians 10:28.  But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: (KJV)Who owns the Earth and therefore can tell us how to behave? KJV say Jesus owns the Earth.

Perhaps the RSV translators are playing Ms. Manners. Maybe they believe some one else owns the Earth -Satan?

Over time, verses showing Jesus' ownership of the Earth are systematically eliminated from the Bible.

Revelation 14:5  and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are spotless.  (RSV)

No lie is found in their mouths, they are blameless (NIV)

Revelation 14:5.  And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. KJV

 

Accountability before God is removed from NIV and RSV. Revelation 22:14. Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. RSV

Demon possession teaches that a possessing spirit controls a person rather than a person controlling himself.

Luke 7:33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

John 8:52.  Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil.

Are these translators implying that Jesus "hath a devil"?

1 Corinthians 5:7. Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. DOUAY

RSV and NIV translators see no need for the help of the Spirit. Perhaps they think you can obey the truth all by yourself?

This is the power of God denied.

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: DOUAY

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: RSV

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; KJVIt is just a little change.

At implies that Jesus will return. Atmeans that the judgment will be at his return rather than at some indefinite time in the future.

By might mean that the judgment took place when he came and died on the cross.

Hebrews 7:21. But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever.) DOUAY

Hebrews 7:21. but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:  “The Lord has sworn  and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ NIV

Hebrews 7:21. Those who formerly became priests took their office without an oath, but this one was addressed with an oath, "The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind, `Thou art a priest for ever.'" RSV

Hebrews 7:21. (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for everafter the order of Melchisedec:) KJVWhat is missing? Only a Levite could be a priest. Jesus was of the Tribe of Judah, therefore the reasoning is that he could not be a priest.

However there was a higher order of priests, the order of Melchisedec.

Perhaps Douay, NIV and RSV want to deny Jesus priesthood.

On the other hand, some churches and even the Masons claim to have priests 'after the order of Melchisedec.

Does deleting these words make their priests of a higher order than Jesus?

John 5:39. You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,  NIV

John 5:39.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. KJV

 

What is the difference? the NIV and RSV are observations whereas the KJV is a command.

Protestant reformers believed it was your Christian duty to search the scriptures. Catholics had priests to do it for them and tell them what the verse means.

The RSV and NIV versions are a step in the Catholic direction.

John 2:11. This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him. RSV

Jesus Miracles done away

The KJV uses the word miracles 32 times. The RSV 23 of these miracles have disappeared entirely. In the remaining verses the miracles have been weakened

Matthew 18:2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you,unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. NIV

It is the glory that comes rather than Jesus Christ.

"Jesus is coming and boy is he mad."

Jesus coming in vengeance is changed to a feeling sorry for him.

Is it morn in penitent sorrow or morn in expectation of terrible vengeance?

 

Mark 7:19. because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? [This he said], making all meats clean. ASV

KJVIn this verse words were added to the Bible so Christians could have bacon and eggs for breakfast and an Easter Ham dinner at church. Did Christ die on the cross to cleanse pigs of worms?

The RSV and Moffat replace a miracle with an eclipse.

An eclipse does not last three hours.

1 Corinthians 7:5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency. ASV

Just one little word

In the KJV Jesus is the only one who can do this work.

The ASV, RSV and NIV say we all can do it.

Just one little word again

It it 'at' or 'by'?

Perhaps it is just 'in view of'?

This little change changes the doctrine of Jesus return.

James 5:16.  Therefore confess yoursins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects. RSV

"An high priest" is only one.

This change allows a priesthood.

Church Government.
Separating the priesthood
from the laity.

This little change established a priesthood (Apostles and Elders) separate from the brethren.

Revelation 13:8. and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. RSVRevelation 13:8. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. KJV

Predestined losers?

In the KJV those who worship the beast are not named in the Lamb's book of life.

In the RSV names were written in the book of life BEFORE the foundation of the world.

1 Corinthians 15:4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scripture RSV ASV NIV1 Corinthians 15:4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: KJVIn the KJV Jesus did it himself. In other Bibles, he had help.

The RSV, ASV, NIV make Jesus somewhat less than God.

John 7:8-9.  Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come." [9] So saying, he remained in Galilee RSVJohn 7:8-9. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. 9.  When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. KJVJesus did go to the feast later. The RSV makes Jesus a liar.Isaiah 7:14. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Changing the wording in the Psalm can be used to deny that Hebrews 1:8 is a quote.

Daniel 3:25. He answered, "But I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods. RSV

Therefore the RSV, NIV, and ASV  make Jesus somewhat less.Micah 5:2. But you, O Bethlehem Eph'rathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days. RSVMicah 5:2. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whosegoings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. KJVDoesn't saying that Christ has an origin make him a created being?

The RSV would have you believe that Jesus is just very old rather than eternal.

Matthew 1:25. but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus. RSV

Concerning Matthew 1:16 early editions of the RSV have a footnote stating that Joseph was the father of Jesus.

This change brings into question whether or not Jesus was Immanuel and that Jesus was a first born son.

In the NIV "Jesus is Lord" is removed many times.

Matthew 19:16-17.  And behold, one came up to him, saying, "Teacher,what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?"

[17] And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."

The master is made into a teacher.

In the KJV "Why callest me good is the same as calling Jesus God.

The RSV asks what is good rather than who is good. Goodness is not ascribed to the person.

The RSV "One there is who is good."does not identify Jesus the 'one' who is God.

Matthew 27:35. And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots; RSV

Is it to remove proof that Jesus fulfilled prophecy.Mark 15:3. And the chief priests accused him of many things. RSV

This was removed from Mark 15:3 because it was a fulfillment of prophecy.

Likewise Mark 15:28 has been completely removed from the RSV

Luke 4:4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

1 John 4:3. but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. RSV

The religious title father is not allowed.

Matthew 23:9. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Why delete "deliver us from evil"? Humm.

Notice the word is indebted not sin.

A debt is something owed. Sin is violation of law.

Verse 40 is Missing in RSVLuke 24:40. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet KJV Luke 24:51. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. 
[52] And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 
[53] and were continually in the temple blessing God. RSVLuke 24:50.  And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 
51.  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: KJVNo worship in the RSV.

Where was Jesus at this time?

In heaven. (Verse 51)

John 6:33. "For the bread of God isthat which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." NIV

 Jesus is systematically removed from modern translations.

That a statue is god? That Santa comes on Christmas? Again Jesus is removed from a verse.John 16:16. "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." RSV

John 16:16. Jesus went on to say,“In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” NIV

John 16:16. A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. KJVIn the RSV and NIV Jesus plays hide and seek. Or perhaps he is doing a magic trick.

 

John 16:23. In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name RSV

Give in my name.
 

John 16:23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall askthe Father in my name, he will give it you. KJV

Ask in my name.

What is the difference? In the KJV the request is made in Jesus name.

In the RSV the Father gives in Jesus name but you do not need to ask in Jesus name.

Acts 2:30. Whereas therefore he was a prophet, and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne. Douay

3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Acts 8:36-38. And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?"

In the RSV nothing keeps a person from being baptized.

In the KJV the person to be baptized does so because he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Again. Jesus is systematically removed from modern translations.

Acts 9:29. He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him Douay

Christmas, Xmas or Happy Holidays?

The movement to remove Christ, Christian symbols and The Ten Commandments from public places started long ago in the modern Bible translations.

Romans 14:10. Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God RSV

What is the difference. You and I are manifested in the flesh as are all other he and she's. In the KJV it is God who is manifested. Do you see the difference?

1 Peter 4:14. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. NIV

1 Peter 4:14. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. KJV

If ye be reproached

In fact, if you are one of the millions throughout the ages killed because you are a Christian you end up saved in heaven.

Revelation 6:9-10.  And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10.  And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

The newer Protestant translations can not be trusted. The Catholics Bibles written to counter the Reformation such as the Douay can not be trusted.
