HOW TO LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY

"Love is unconditional when it endures despite unfavourable circumstances.“

People have a hard enough time figuring out what love is, and then there’s unconditional love, which some will argue is the only kind of real love.

Think of love as an action, not a feeling. A feeling is something we get from someone, and when we stop getting it, we often change our behaviour somehow. If we have to do something, or be a certain way, in order to receive love, that love is conditional. Instead, if you start thinking of love as the behaviour itself, the reward becomes the feeling you get when you act a certain way, not when someone else acts a certain way. And you can continue acting this way all the time, regardless of how other people behave–it becomes an act of generosity. Love is not love except when it is generous. Feelings can not last, but you can renew them continuously with new actions.

Always ask yourself, what is the most loving thing I can do for this particular person in this particular moment? Love isn’t really one size fits all; what might be a loving act toward one person could be harmful to another person, in that it doesn’t help them get closer to becoming a truly happy human being. Unconditional love is a new decision you need to make in every situation, not a hard and fast rule you can apply to everyone all the time.

Remember that love doesn’t mean making sure someone is always comfortable. If you believe loving someone is about fostering their growth, most people acknowledge that pain and discomfort are part of growth, and if you shield someone from all pain or discomfort, you are not loving them. So, don’t confuse loving someone with blindly making them comfortable, satisfying their desires, and shielding them from any kind of pain. If you do, you are only making it difficult for them to grow as human beings.

Consider that if love is unconditional, it is given to everyone freely, including yourself. Another reason the previous step is important is because if you don’t follow it, you’re well on your way to becoming a people pleaser, which means you are not being unconditionally loving to yourself. Instead, recognize the times when doing what is best for you will occasionally have you out of sync with another.

Forgive. Even if someone doesn’t apologize, it’s inherently loving to both them and yourself to let go of your anger and resentment toward them. Keep in mind that forgiving is not something we do, but something we are! Again, don’t mistake being willing to forgive for letting people walk all over you. How you act(lovingly) toward the person will vary, but your ability to practice unconditional love will be clouded if you hold on to negative feelings.

Allow yourself to reap the benefits. If you’ve ever had a moment when you practiced unconditional love, whether spontaneously or deliberately, you probably felt energized and liberated, not drained and burdened. The more often you feel the the former after acting a certain way, the more you’re loving unconditionally.

WHAT A WOMAN SHOULD KNOW about BIRTH CONTROL

“The Pill”

Ethical Concerns: When the Pill works by preventing implantation of a recently conceived embryo, it produces an early abortion.2

Medical side effects: In 2005, the World Health Organization officially classified oral contraceptives as Group I carcinogens (Group I being the most dangerous from Groups I-IV).3 A year later, a comprehensive meta-analysis published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, noted that 21 out of 23 studies found an increased risk of developing premenopausal breast cancer women who had taken the Pill prior to the birth of their first child. Overall this group of women experienced a 44% increased risk in developing breast cancer prior to age 50.4 Other side effects that women have experienced include high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke, heart attack, depression, weight gain, and migraines.5 Some women who stop taking the Pill do not have a return of their fertility (menstrual cycles) for a year, or even longer.6 Although the Pill decreases the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer, it increases breast, liver, and cervical cancer.7 At least three studies have noted that the AIDS virus is transmitted more easily to women who are taking the Pill if their partner(s) have the AIDS virus.8.9.10

“The Shot”

Commonly known as “the Shot,” Depo-Provera, a long acting progestin hormone, is injected into a woman’s muscle every three months. It works by decreasing ovulation, by inhibiting sperm transport and by changing the lining of a woman’s uterus.11

Ethical concerns: By changing the lining of the uterus, Depo-Provera can cause an early abortion when conception does occur.

Medical side effects: The results of two major world studies have shown that women who take Depo-Provera for two years or more before age 25 have at least a 190% increased risk of developing breast cancer.12 In addition, Depo-Provera may reduce a woman’s bone density,13 and worsen her cholesterol level.14 One study found that women who had received injectable progestins (i.e., usually Depo-Provera or norethisterone enanthate) for at least five years suffered a 430% increased risk of developing cervical cancer.15 Several studies have shown that women who receive injectable progestins have a much higher rate of contracting the AIDS virus if their partner is infected, with one study showing a 240% increased risk.16

Other Hormonal Contraceptives

The same artificial hormones used in the Pill and Depo-Provera are packaged in a variety of other delivery systems: the Patch, the “Morning after Pill,” the monthly injection Lunelle, hormone impregnated IUDs and vaginal inserts, and others. More are in development. Most are so new that their side effects have not been well researched. They use the same hormones as the Pill and can be expected to have generally the same cancer-producing risks. All the hormonal contraceptives can also cause extended periods of unintended infertility after they are discontinued.17

Barrier Methods:The Condom and the Diaphragm

The condom and diaphragm are latex devices used to prevent sperm from reaching the ovum, thus preventing fertilization.

Medical side effects: The condom has a failure rate for avoiding pregnancy that is estimated to be between 10-30%.18,19 There are several reasons: breakage or slippage during use, manufacturing defects, and defects caused by shipping and storage in a hot or very cold place. A comprehensive review of condom effectiveness in preventing sexually transmitted diseases, sponsored by the US National Institutes of Health, published in 2001, concluded that use of condoms reduces, but does not eliminatetransmission of the AIDS virus to men and women and of gonorrhea to men. The review also concluded that condoms have no proven effectiveness in reducing the transmission of any other STD.20 At least one study has noted that women who use barrier methods such as the diaphragm or condom, or the withdrawal method, had a 137% increased risk of developing preeclampsia.21 Preeclampsia, a complication occurring in some pregnant women, is a syndrome of high blood pressure, fluid retention, and kidney damage, which may eventually lead to prolonged seizures and/or coma. It is theorized that exposure to the male’s sperm plays a protective role against preeclampsia.

Spermicides

A spermicide is an agent that is designed to kill the man’s sperm and is often sold as a gel or as an ingredient in the vaginal sponge.

Medical side effects: Toxic Shock Syndrome has been associated with the spermicide sponge.22 One researcher has noted that couples who have used certain spermicides within a month of conception have experienced a doubling in the rate of birth defects, as well as a doubling of the rate of miscarriage.23

The IUD (Intrauterine Device)

This is a T-shaped device made of hard plastic. It may also contain copper or progestin hormones. A doctor inserts it into a woman’s uterus. It works by irritating the lining of the uterus and obstructing sperm transport.

Ethical concerns: When conception occurs with an IUD in place, the IUD can prevent implantation, thus causing an early abortion.24

Medical side effects: These include uterine perforation, which may lead to a hysterectomy, and infections, such as a pelvic or tubo-ovarian abscess. Use of all IUDs has been associated with an increased incidence of PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease).25 The IUD may occasionally result in pregnancy and if this were to occur, an ectopic pregnancy would be more likely to occur. An ectopic pregnancy is one in which the unborn child implants himself/ herself in a location other than in the mother’s uterus, usually in the fallopian tube. According to Rossing and Daling, two prominent researchers, women who had used an IUD for three or more years were more than twice as likely to have a tubal pregnancy as women who had never used an IUD even years after the IUD had been removed.26 Ectopic pregnancy remains the leading cause of maternal death in the United States. The IUD may also cause back aches, cramping, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cycles), and infertility. 25

“Permanent” Sterilization:Tubal Ligation and Vasectomy

Surgical sterilization attempts to achieve permanent sterility by cutting, burning or tying a woman’s fallopian tubes (called “tubal ligation”) or a man’s vas deferens (called “vasectomy”).

Medical side effects: Tubal ligation does not always prevent conception. When conception does occur, it is associated with a much higher incidence of ectopic pregnancy,27 which, as was noted, is the leading cause of death in pregnant women. In addition, women who undergo the procedure may experience complications from the anesthesia or from surgery. Complications include bladder puncture, bleeding, and even cardiac arrest after inflation of the abdomen with carbon dioxide.28 Some women who have undergone a tubal ligation experience a syndrome of intermittent vaginal bleeding associated with severe cramping pain in the lower abdomen.29

About 50% of men who undergo a vasectomy will develop anti-sperm antibodies.30 In essence, their bodies will come to recognize their own sperm as “the enemy.” This could lead to a higher incidence of autoimmune disease. Several studies have noted that men who undergo a vasectomy have a higher incidence of developing prostate cancer, especially 15-20 years after their vasectomy, 31,32,33,34although one large study did not find a link.35 Also, some research evidence suggests that there is an association between vasectomy and a recently identified form of dementia, Primary Progressive Aphasia.36

Wise Options

The best option before marriage is abstinence. The obvious benefits include greater self-respect, freedom from the risk of sexually transmitted disease, as well as monetary savings and no chance of an unintended pregnancy. Within marriage it should be noted that an openness towards having children yields specific medical benefits. Every additional child a woman bears reduces her risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer by 5-10%. In addition, breast and ovarian cancer risks are reduced significantly in women who breast feed, with highest reductions in those women who breast-fed for the longest time intervals.37

NFP: Natural Family Planning

Natural Family Planning is a totally natural method by which couples can manage their fertility. In NFP a woman determines when she is either fertile or infertile by observing the consistency of her cervical mucus. The largest trial to date (about 20,000 Indian women)—sponsored by the WHO (World Health Organization)—found unintended pregnancy rate of less than 0.2%.38

Some obvious benefits of NFP are that it is virtually cost-free and there is no increased risk of cancer or other diseases associated with hormonal contraceptives. Couples who use NFP have a divorce rate that is less than 5%39 —far lower than the national rate of about 50%.

THE INNER CONDITIONS OF HAPPINESS

The deeper you meditate and the more willingly you serve, the happier you will be.

Learn to carry all the conditions of happiness within yourself by meditating and attuning your consciousness to the ever-existing, ever-conscious, ever-new Joy, which is God. Your happiness should never be subject to any outside influence. Whatever your environment is, don’t allow your inner peace to be touched by it.

Real happiness can stand the challenge of all outer experiences. When you can bear the crucifixions of others’ wrongs against you and still return love and forgiveness; and when you can keep that divine inner peace intact despite all painful thrusts of outer circumstance, then you shall know this happiness.

Be silent and calm [in meditation] every night for at least half an hour, preferably much longer, before you retire, and again in the morning before starting the day’s activity. This will produce an undaunted, unbreakable inner habit of happiness that will make you able to meet all the trying situations of the everyday battle of life. With that unchangeable happiness within, go about seeking to fulfill the demands of your daily needs

The more you depend upon conditions outside yourself for happiness, the less happiness you will experience.

If you think that you can live happily in forgetfulness of God, you are mistaken, because you will cry out in loneliness again and again until you realize that God is all in all the only reality in the universe. You are made in His image. You can never find lasting happiness in any thing because nothing is complete except God.

The unalloyed happiness I find in communion with the Lord no words can describe. Night and day I am in a state of joy. That joy is God. To know Him is to perform the funeral rites for all your sorrows. He does not require you to be stoic and morose. This is not the right concept of God, nor the way to please Him. Without being happy you will not even be able to find Him....The happier you are, the greater will be your attunement with Him. Those who know Him are always happy, because God is joy itself.

FORGIVINESS

These are the five things I wanted to tell you about forgiving somebody who wronged you.

1.  Forgiving is the only way to be fair to yourself after someone hurts you unfairly.

2.  Forgivers are not doormats; they do not have to tolerate the bad things that they forgive.

3.  Forgivers are not fools; they forgive and heal themselves, but they do not have to go back for      more  abuse.

4.  We donít have to wait until the other person repents before we forgive him or her and heal      ourselves.

5.  Forgiving is a journey. For us, it takes time, so be patient and donít get discouraged if you      backslide have to do it over again.

And remember this: The first person who gets the benefit of forgiving is always the person who does the forgiving. When you forgive a person who wronged you, you set a prisoner free, and then you discover that the prisoner you set free is you. When you forgive, you walk hand in hand with the very God who forgives you everything for the sake of his Son. When you forgive, you heal the hurts you never should have felt in the first place. So if you have been hurt and feel miserable about it, our Lord himself recommends forgiving as the only way to healing.

I hope that you will try it for yourself.

WHY IS IDOL WORSHIP SUCH A POWERFUL TEMPTATION?

Ultimately, the answer to this question is “sin.” It is the sin nature of man that causes us to worship modern idols, all of which are, in reality, forms of self-worship. The temptation to worship ourselves in various ways is a powerful temptation indeed. In fact, it is so powerful that only those who belong to Christ and have the Holy Spirit within them can possibly hope to resist the temptation of modern idolatry. Even then, resisting the worship of idols is a lifelong battle that is part of the Christian life (Ephesians 6:11; 1 Timothy 6:12; 2 Timothy 2:3).

When we hear the word idol we often think of statues and objects reminiscent of those worshipped by pagans in ancient cultures. However, the idols of the 21st century often bear no resemblance to the artifacts used thousands of years ago. Today, we have replaced the “golden calf” with an insatiable drive to reach the top of the corporate ladder or with a myriad of other passionate pursuits. And, sadly, those who aggressively pursue goals and dreams, altogether excluding God, are often admired for their individualism and drive. In the end, however, it doesn’t matter what empty pleasure we chase after or to what or whom we bow down, the result is the same—separation from the one true God.

Understanding contemporary idols can help us to understand why they prove to be such a powerful temptation. An idol can be anything we place ahead of God in our lives, anything that tugs at our heart more than God does, such as possessions, careers, relationships, hobbies, sports, entertainment, goals, greed, addictions to alcohol/drugs/gambling/pornography, etc. Many of the things we idolize can be very good, such as relationships or careers. Yet Scripture tells us that, whatever we do, we are to “do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31) and that we are to serve God only (Deuteronomy 6:13). Unfortunately, God is often shoved out of the way as we zealously pursue our idols. Worse yet, the significant amount of time we often spend in these idolatrous pursuits leaves us with little or no time to spend with the Lord.

There is another form of idolatry prevalent today. Its growth is fostered by cultures that continue to drift away from sound biblical teaching, just as the apostle Paul warned us, “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3). In these pluralistic, liberal times, many cultures have, to a large degree, redefined God. We have forsaken the God revealed to us in Scripture and have recast Him to comply with our own inclinations and desires—a “kinder and gentler” god who is infinitely more tolerant than the One revealed in Scripture. One who is less demanding and less judgmental and who will tolerate many lifestyles without placing guilt on anyone’s shoulders. As this idolatry is propagated by churches around the world, many disillusioned congregants understandably believe they are worshipping the one, true God. However, these made-over gods are created by man, and to worship them is to worship idols. Worshipping a god of one’s own making, however, is particularly tempting for many whose habits and lifestyles and drives and desires are not in harmony with Scripture.

Given the recent economic breakdown and ensuing global chaos, many have turned to addictive behaviors such as drug or alcohol use or even something as innocent as excessive television viewing as a means of temporarily “escaping” a difficult situation or perhaps just the rigors of daily life. The psalmist, however, tells us that those who place their trust in this behavior will, essentially, become spiritually useless (Psalm 115:8). We need to place our trust in the Lord “who will keep [us] from all harm” (Psalm 121:7) and who has promised to supply all of our needs when we trust in Him. We also need to remember the words of Paul, who teaches us not to be anxious about anything, but rather to pray about everything so the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, can guard our hearts and our minds (Philippians 4:6–7).

The joys of this world, which we too often seek, will never satisfy the human heart. As Solomon beautifully conveys in the book of Ecclesiastes, apart from a right relationship with God, life is futile. We were created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and designed to worship and glorify Him as He alone is worthy of our worship. God has placed “eternity in man’s heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11), and a relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to fulfill this longing for eternal life. All of our idolatrous pursuits will leave us empty, unsatisfied, and, ultimately, on the broad road that Scripture warns us about most people taking, the one that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13).

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT PORNOGRAPHY?

By far, the most searched for terms on the internet are related to pornography. Pornography is rampant in the world today. Perhaps more than anything else, Satan has succeeded in twisting and perverting sex. He has taken what is good and right (loving sex between a husband and wife) and replaced it with lust, pornography, adultery, rape, and homosexuality. Pornography can be the first step on a very slippery slope of ever-increasing wickedness and immorality (Romans 6:19). The addictive nature of pornography is well documented. Just as a drug user must consume greater and more powerful quantities of drugs to achieve the same "high," pornography drags a person deeper and deeper into hard-core sexual addictions and ungodly desires.

The three main categories of sin are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). Pornography definitely causes us to lust after flesh, and it is undeniably a lust of the eyes. Pornography definitely does not qualify as one of the things we are to think about, according to Philippians 4:8. Pornography is addictive (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19), and destructive (Proverbs 6:25-28; Ezekiel 20:30; Ephesians 4:19). Lusting after other people in our minds, which is the essence of pornography, is offensive to God (Matthew 5:28). When habitual devotion to pornography characterizes a person's life, it demonstrates the person is not saved (1 Corinthians 6:9).

For those involved in pornography, God can and will give the victory. Are you involved with pornography and desire freedom from it? Here are some steps to victory: 1) Confess your sin to God (1 John 1:9). 2) Ask God to cleanse, renew, and transform your mind (Romans 12:2). 3) Ask God to fill your mind with Philippians 4:8. 4) Learn to possess your body in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4). 5) Understand the proper meaning of sex and rely on your spouse alone to meet that need (1 Corinthians 7:1-5). 6) Realize that if you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). 7) Take practical steps to reduce your exposure to graphic images. Install pornography blockers on your computer, limit television and video usage, and find another Christian who will pray for you and help keep you accountable.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORNICATION AND ADULTERY?

The modern dictionary definitions of fornication (voluntary sexual intercourse between persons not married to each other, which would include adultery) and adultery (voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a partner other than the lawful spouse) are simple enough, but the Bible gives us greater insight into how God perceives these two sexual sins. In the Bible, both are referred to literally, but both are also used figuratively to refer to idolatry.

In the Old Testament, all sexual sin was forbidden by the Mosaic Law and Jewish custom. However, the Hebrew word translated “fornication” in the Old Testament was also in the context of idolatry, also called spiritual whoredom. In 2 Chronicles 21:10-14, God struck Jehoram with plagues and diseases because he led the people into idolatry. He “caused the people of Jerusalem to commit fornication” (v. 11, KJV) and “to go lusting like the fornications of the house of Ahab” (v. 13 NKJV). King Ahab was the husband of Jezebel, a priestess of the lascivious god Baal, who led the Israelites into idol worship of the most egregious kind. In Ezekiel 16, the prophet Ezekiel describes in detail the history of God’s people turning away from Him to “play the harlot” with other gods. The word “fornication,” meaning idolatry, is used numerous times in this chapter alone. As the Israelites became known among the nations round about them for their wisdom, riches, and power, which was a snare to them as a woman's beauty is to her, they were admired and courted and complimented by their neighbors, and so drawn into idolatrous practices. The word “fornication” is used in connection with pagan idolatry because much of pagan “worship” included sex in their rites. Temple prostitutes were common in the worship of Baal and other false gods. Sexual sin of all kinds was not only accepted in these religions, but encouraged as a means to greater blessings from the gods for the worshippers, particularly in the increase of their flocks and crops.

In the New Testament, "fornication" comes from the Greek word porneia, which includes adultery and incest. Porneia comes from another Greek word that also includes indulging in any kind of unlawful lust, which would include homosexuality. The use of the word in the gospels and the epistles is always in reference to sexual sin, whereas "fornication" in the book of Revelation always refers to idolatry. The Lord Jesus condemns two of the churches of Asia Minor for dabbling in the fornication of idolatry (Revelation 2:14, 20), and He also refers to the “great harlot” of the end times, which is the idolatrous false religion “with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication” (Revelation 17:1-2, NKJV).

Adultery, on the other hand, always refers to the sexual sin of married people with someone other than their spouse, and the word is used in the Old Testament both literally and figuratively. The Hebrew word translated “adultery” means literally “breaking wedlock.” Interestingly, God describes the desertion of His people to other gods as adultery. The Jewish people were regarded as the spouse of Jehovah, so when they turned to the gods of other nations, they were compared to an adulterous wife. The Old Testament often referred to Israel’s idolatry as a wanton woman who went “whoring after” other gods (Exodus 34:15-16; Leviticus 17:7; Ezekiel 6:9 KJV). Further, the entire book of Hosea likens the relationship between God and Israel to the marriage of the prophet Hosea and his adulterous wife, Gomer. Their marriage was a picture of the sin and unfaithfulness of Israel which, time after time, left her true husband (Jehovah) to commit spiritual adultery with other gods.

In the New Testament, the two Greek words translated “adultery” are nearly always used, from their contexts, to refer literally to sexual sin involving married partners. The only exception is in the letter to the church of Thyatira which was condemned for tolerating the “woman Jezebel who calls herself a prophetess” (Revelation 2:20). This woman drew the church into immorality and idolatrous practices and anyone seduced by her false doctrines was considered to have committed adultery with her.

IS PUBLIC CONFESSION NECESSARY FOR SALVATION (ROMANS 10 : 9 -10)?

Romans 10:9-10 is a passage which is often used by many a well-meaning Christian in his/her endeavor to bring someone to a profession of faith in Christ. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

This passage is not to be understood to mean that one is brought to salvation by means of an audible profession. We know that salvation is by grace through the gift of faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), not by confession. Therefore, as with all Scripture, context is of critical importance if we are to understand this passage.

At the time of the writing of the book of Romans, as a nation, the Jews had rejected Jesus as their Messiah. For an individual to accept Christ and confess that He was the Messiah would typically result in persecution and ultimately death. At this time, for a Jew to embrace Christ and subsequently confess Him as Lord, knowing that persecution was sure to come, was an indication of true salvation and the work of the Holy Spirit. Outward professions of faith are rare when one’s life is at stake, and no more so than in the early church. The phrase “you will be saved,” is not intended to reveal a condition for salvation by public confession, but rather a definite fact that no one facing death would confess Christ as Messiah, unless indeed he/she was saved.

This is further backed by verse 10, wherein we read, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” The Greek can be rendered in view of an acknowledgment by confession in the attitude of thanksgiving. But why would an individual give thanks for something which he/she has not yet received? When we get to verse 13, we read that “…whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Verse 14, however, indicates that calling upon the Lord is the privilege given to those who are already redeemed: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?” Further, in verse 12, we read, “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek – for the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.” Clearly, the phrase “richly blesses all who call on him” cannot be speaking of salvation, as those that were called were already saved by faith. Thus, it refers to the provisions enjoyed following salvation.

To conclude, Romans 10:9-10 is not establishing public confession as a prerequisite for salvation. Rather, it is asserting that when a Jew embraced Christ and subsequently confessed Him as Lord, knowing that persecution was sure to come, one could rest assured that individual was indeed saved. For us today, the passage is equally true. Those who are saved will confess Christ as Lord because He has already instilled faith in their hearts. As with baptism and all good works, public confession is not the means of salvation; it is the evidence of salvation.

WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES ABOUT JUDGING OTHERS

I suppose we are quoted Matthew 7:1 more than any other single verse! When we dare to point out Scriptural error in religious institutions or individual ministries, we can usually count on receiving several from concerned readers accusing us of "judging." Since this is the case, are we guilty of violating the Lord's admonition when we criticize otherprofessed believers?

We must respond by saying that far too many of God's people misinterpret this verse and as a consequence wind up adopting an extreme position of tolerance not taught in the Word of God! First and foremost, we must be a people of spiritual discernment and exercise great caution in accepting as genuine those who claim kinship because the Bible clearly teaches that "...narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matthew 7:14, KJV). It also teaches us that Satan is busy "planting tares among the wheat"--filling Churches with unbelievers.

The devil could not be more satisfied than when well intentioned believers let their guard down and welcome any and all into their fellowship. He is also gratified when these same people are incensed at pastors calling attention to "apple trees" bearing lemons. Let's look at Matthew 7:15-20 for the basis of this analogy:

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. [16] Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? [17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. [19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. [20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." (KJV, emphasis mine)

This basic principle is why we keep pounding the theme of "pay more attention to what they do than what they say--because talk is cheap."

The Holy Spirit of God resides within genuine believers, therefore His presence will result in "the fruit of the Spirit" being displayed in their lives (Gal.5:22-23). And this fruit-bearing is the only visible evidence by which we can discern if someone is truly saved or not. So when a person's walk does not match up with their mouth, we must be very wary of them.

To exercise spiritual discernment is to exercise judgment. One of the dictionary definitions of judge is "To form an opinion about." A parallel definition of judgment is "The ability to make a decision or form an opinion by discerning and evaluating." And it is this sense of judging or judgment that we must be careful to maintain, because the devil is doing everything in his considerable power to deceive us through false "brethren."

The Lord's admonition to "judge not" in Matthew 7:1 uses the Greek word krino, the meaning of which--according to W.E. Vine's "Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words"--is this:"primarily denotes to separate, select, choose; hence, to determine, and so to judge, pronounce judgment." (emphasis mine). In other words the admonition is for us not to sit as a judge and pronounce sentence upon a person--to harshly condemn them--particularly if we are using ourselves as the standard. It does not mean, however, that we must refrain from observing others and forming opinions about the validity of their profession of faith. It does not mean that pastors should refrain from warning their flocks about doctrinal error in other men's ministries. One of the biggest lies of the devil is that unity must be preserved through the abolishment of all criticism.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 5, we find what the Apostle Paul taught the believers at Corinth about judging individuals within their Church. The background of this particular passage involves a man who was a member of their Church and living in open immorality with "his father's wife" (vs.1). Apparently the woman was the man's step-mother and because of his esteemed position in the community, this blatant sin was being ignored. When it was brought to Paul's attention, he minced no words in condemning the immorality and demanding that the leadership of the Church turn the man "over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh"! (vs.5). In other words, excommunication--removing the privileges of membership and expulsion from the assembly--was strongly urged by Paul. This meant punishing the man by putting him outside the spiritual protection of the local Church and, in effect, relegating him back to Satan's domain--where his flesh (carnal nature) would come under demonic attack. All of this was done with the hope that the man would seek repentance, God's forgiveness, and restoration to fellowship with the other believers. The story had a "happy ending," because that is exactly what the man did after being disciplined. But the main point we must not miss is found in Paul's solemn words of verses 11 through 13, where he literally exhorts the brethren to exercise spiritual judgment in the matter:

"But now I write to you not to associate with any one who bears the name of [Christian] brother, if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater--that is, whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God--or [is] a person with a foul tongue (railing, abusing, reviling, slandering), or is a drunkard, or a swindler, or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person. (12) What [business] of mine is it and what right have I to judge outsiders? (Unbelievers, non-members) Is it not those inside [the church] upon whom you are to pass disciplinary judgment--passing censuring sentence on them [as the facts require]? (13) God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside. Drive out that wicked one from among you--expel him from your church" (Parallel Bible, KJV-Amplified Bible commentary, emphasis and (Insert)

Another interesting passage is found in 2 Thessalonians, chapter 3 where it appears that  false teachers had convinced some of the believers in Thessalonica that the Lord was going to come back on a certain date. So they quit their jobs, sold their possessions, and were anxiously awaiting His return. But while they waited, they had to live off of the generosity of other brethren and, among other things, were guilty of idleness and "sticking their noses" into the affairs of others. To correct the problem, Paul's words of verses 6, 14, and 15 once again encourage proper judgment:

"(6) Now we charge you, brethren, in the name and on the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, that you withdraw and keep away from every brother (fellow believer) who is slack in the performance of duty and is disorderly, living as a shirker and not walking in accord with the traditions and instructions that you have received from us......(14) But if any one [in the church] refuses to obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and do not associate with him, that he may be ashamed. (15) Do not regard him as an enemy, but simply admonish and warn him as [being still] a brother" (Parallel Bible, KJV-Amplified Bible commentary, emphasis mine).

Are these warnings being taught and followed by the majority of pastors and churches today? No, because they are not "politically correct" and might offend someone! Unity at all costs is being promoted heavily and every effort made to attract all who will make a profession of faith and help to fill a pew--regardless of their actual standing with God.

Instead, we should follow Paul's exhortation of 1 Thessalonians 5:21, where he says:

"But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast" (Parallel Bible, KJV-Amplified Bible commentary).

Spiritual discernment must serve as our "radar antenna" and be exercised in all things of daily life in order to avoid being deceived by the devil. We keep on pounding the theme of deception because the Word of God stresses it! Please understand that just because someone uses the terminology of Christianity and goes to Church every time the doors open--or is standing behind the pulpit when you enter--does not necessarily mean they are born again believers in Jesus Christ. Listen to the witness of the Holy Spirit within concerning those who claim the title of "Christian" and if your spiritual antenna begins to vibrate--pay attention to it. God knows their hearts and whether or not they belong to Him (John 10:27). Watch them and if their actions do not match their profession of faith--avoid them.

Preachers are exhorted in 2 Timothy 4:2 to "....reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine." The Greek word translated "reprove" is often used in the sense of "expose" and we find that reflected in Ephesians 5:11 and 13.

"(11) Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] expose and reprove and convict them.....(13) But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light" (Parallel Bible, KJV-Amplified Bible commentary).

To point out doctrinal error is an essential part of any genuine preacher's ministry and must be done for the benefit of God's people. So when we find it necessary to criticize the tactics and teachings of others, it must be done using the Word of God as the standard and not our own ideas. Then when someone is shown to be in error, their perceived piety and popularity must not color or overrule the facts. Wrong is wrong regardless of the size of the reputation.

Judging is not wrong, when it is the exercise of spiritual discernment. May God grant that we see much more of it!

If you have been born again and received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, but have been very lukewarm in your spiritual walk with Him, you need to immediately ask Him for forgiveness and for renewal. He will instantly forgive you, and fill your heart with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Then, you need to begin a daily walk of prayer and personal Bible Study.

If you have never placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior, but have come to sense His reality and the approaching End of the Age, and want to receive His FREE Gift of Eternal Life, you can do so now, in the privacy of your home. Once you truly believe in Him as Lord and Savior, you are spiritually Born Again, and are as assured of Heaven as if you were already there. Then, you can rest assured that the Kingdom of Antichrist will not touch you spiritually.

CHANGING THE BIBLE

Revelation 22

18.  I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book

19.  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

Who would want to change the Bible?

Why would they want to change the Bible?

For example: How about the Humanists and others of like mind?

The Humanist Manifesto 1 and 2 of 1933 and 1973

Humanist Manifesto Doctrine 13:

Religious humanism maintains that all associations and institutions exist for the fulfillment of human life.

The intelligent evaluation, transformation, control, and direction of such associations and institutions with a view to the enhancement of human life is the purpose and program of humanism.

Certainly religious institutions, their ritualistic forms, ecclesiastical methods, and communal activities must be reconstituted as rapidly as experience allows, in order to function effectively in the modern world.

First notice that Humanism is a religion.   Notice the word 'control' in Doctrine thirteen. For clarification, we will rephrase sentences one and two. They said, "The control and direction of all associations is the purpose and program of humanism."

They said the institutions to be controlled and directed include religious institutions. Religious institutions include Christian Churches, public and private schools, universities, seminaries, etc.. Put your thinking cap on, do you think Humanists should be involved in the 'control and direction' of Christian Churches, schools and seminaries? Wouldn't that be like putting the fox in charge of the hen house? Or appointing the wolf to the job of shepherd of the sheepfold?

Reread the thirteenth doctrine of Humanism. Notice that Humanists use code words for Christianity and believe that they must 'reconstitute', 'reinterpret' and 'redefine' Christianity 'as rapidly as experience allows'. ("as fast as they can get away with it")

"Some humanists believe we should reinterprettraditional religions and reinvest them with meanings appropriate to the current situation. Suchredefinitions, however, often perpetuate old dependencies and escapisms; they easily become obscurantist, impeding the free use of the intellect. We need, instead, radically new human purposes and goals." Humanist Manifesto 2 (1973)

Jude 1:3-5

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

4 For there are certain men (claiming humanist credentials) crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men(non-theists), turning (reinterpret, reinvest and reconstitute ) the grace of our God into lasciviousness, ('new morality') and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (No deity will save us; we must save ourselves.)

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

In the Humanist Manifesto 2  Christianity is referred to as 'traditional dogmatic or authoritarian religions'. Humanists believe that Christian beliefs are 'myths, dependencies and escapisms'.

Here we find them saying, "humanists believe we should reinterpret traditional religions and reinvest them with meanings appropriate to the current situation."

In Manifesto I, Doctrine Thirteen it was said, "(religious institutions) must be reconstituted as rapidly as experience allows." As rapidly as experience allows means, "As fast as we can get away with it."

How is this Humanist reinterpreting, reinvestment and reconstituting of Christian Churches and institutions to be accomplished? The answer, in part, is in the preface where it is written. "Many within religious groups, believing in the future of humanism, now claim humanist credentials".

Here we have the ungodly feeling that it is their duty to infiltrate, reinterpret, reinvest and reconstitute Christianity. How would they do this? In plain English, the Bible tells us in Jude 1.

Below is a list of some of the many changes made since the King James Version was published along with comments. The Living Bible is dealt with separately.

Various Modern Translations

The Old King James Version

John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. (New World Translation)John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (KJV)

In the King James Jesus is God whereas in the other Bible he is just a god.

2 Samuel 21:19 Then there was another battle with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, killed Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. Revised Standard Version (RSV)

2 Samuel 21:19. And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.  (KJV)

Who killed Goliath, David or Elhanan?

2 Samuel 23:5 Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? (RSV)

2 Samuel 23:5. Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.  (KJV)

Is "my house" with or not with God?Hosea 11:12. and Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One.  (NIV)

Hosea 11:12.but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.  (KJV)

Which way is it? With or against?Genesis 3:15. I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. Douay

Genesis 3:15. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; itshall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. KJV

Protestants believe that 'his' is Jesus Christ. The Douay-Rheims translation is a Catholic Jesuit version. Here Mary (she -her) replaces Jesus (his)

Psalm 55:19. God shall hear, and bring them low, even he that has existed from eternity. Pause. For they suffer no reverse, and thereforethey have not feared God. (Septuagint)

Psalm 55:19. God who existed before the ages will hear and afflict them. For there is no redemption in them. They indeed do not fear God.(Septuagint)

Charles Thomson Translation. Secretary of the Continental Congress of the U.S.A. 1774 -1789

Psalm 55:19. God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. KJV

For some of those we call 'the  wicked' there is no redemption. But perhaps they do not want you to know that.

KJV. "no changes" They will not change.

Should Christians Love The Wicked?

Matthew 5:44. But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (RSV)

Matthew 5:44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  (KJV)

RSV wants us to pray for our persecutors.

Half of the RSV verse has been deleted.

RSV - missingMatthew 18:11. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.  (KJV)Perhaps this verse is not important so THEY left it out. Perhaps they believe Jesus is not the only savior. Perhaps they believe we should save ourselves. Perhaps they believe we do not need Jesus?

"No deity will save us; we must save ourselves." Humanist Manifesto 2

Matthew 20:16. So the last will be first, and the first will be last." (RSV)Matthew 20:16. So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. Matthew 20:22.  "You don't know what you are asking." Jesus said unto them. "Can you drink the cup that I am going to drink?" "We can." They answered.

23  Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father." (RSV)

Matthew 20:22. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.  (KJV)

Baptism comments are deleted from the RSV.Matthew 25:13. Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. (RSV)

Matthew 25:13. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. (NIV)

Matthew 25:13. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hourwherein the Son of man cometh.

The day or hour of what? It is not in the RSV or NIV.

Matthew 24:36. No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. (NIV)Matthew 24:36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.  (KJV)"Nor the Son" has been added to the NIV

Jesus said, "I and the Father are one". This addition makes Jesus a liar. Also, that Jesus does not know when he will return.

Mark 2:17. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." RSV

Mark 2:17. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.

Mark 2:17.  I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentancePerhaps they believe there is no need for repentance so they just delete two words.Mark 6:11 If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them."Mark 6:11. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.Perhaps these words were deleted because they do not believe in a judgment.

Perhaps with San Francisco in mind, God has decided to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah?

Mark 10:21, ...and come, follow me. RSV

Mark 10:21, ...Then come, follow me. NIV

Mark 10:21, ...and come, follow me. ASV

Mark 10:21. ...and come, take up the cross, and follow me.  (KJV)"Take up the cross" deleted.

Perhaps since salvation is a free gift you need do nothing except watch TV.

When you become a Christian there is a change in life and a cross to bear.

Mark 10:24. Children, how hard is to enter into the kingdom of God! RSV)

Mark 10:24. How hard is it for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! (NIV)

Mark 10:24. ... Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!  (KJV)Which is it?

1. Hard for children to enter.
2. Hard for the rich to enter.
3. Hard for those who trust in riches to enter.

In 3 being rich is not the problem. Making an idol of money is the problem. Those who believe in the RSV (1) or NIV (2) might just be persuaded give all their money to the preacher.

Mark 13:14. But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains; RSVMark 13:14. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:  (KJV)They don't like the prophecy of Daniel so they simply delete the reference.

How will you know when to flee if you don't understand Daniel?

Luke 2:14. "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased" RSVLuke 2:14. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  (KJV)One verse favors a few and the other all men. Luke 4:4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.  (KJV)Perhaps they don't think every word is important, so they just take out a few words here and a few there.2 Timothy 3:16. Every scripture inspired of God and is also profitable for teaching. RSV2 Timothy 3:16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, ...  (KJV)Is it every or all? Is it just inspired scriptures that are profitable meaning that some scripture is not inspired? Is scripture for teaching or doctrine.

And who is going to tell you which scripture is inspired and which scripture you can safely ignore? The pastor of a 501c3 church perhaps?

A little change here and a little there.

Luke 9:55-56. But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village. (RSV)

Luke 9:55-56. But Jesus turned and rebuked them and they went on to another village. (NIV)

Luke 9:55-56. But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. But he turned and rebuked them. 56.  For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. (KJV)The other versions remove the rebuke. Perhaps a Humanist version of "Judge not"?Acts 28:28.  Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen."

29.

30. And he lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, (RSV)

Acts 28:28.  Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

29.  And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

30.  And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, (KJV)

Let's be one happy family. Verse 29 is controversy. In the RSV - gone. The Bible is divisive and that will not do with those waning a one world religion.

Does Revelation 22:19 apply here?

19.  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

1 Corinthians 10:28. (But if some one says to you, "This has been offered in sacrifice," then out of consideration for the man who informed you, and for conscience' sake -- (RSV)1 Corinthians 10:28.  But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: (KJV)Who owns the Earth and therefore can tell us how to behave? KJV say Jesus owns the Earth.

Perhaps the RSV translators are playing Ms. Manners. Maybe they believe some one else owns the Earth -Satan?

Over time, verses showing Jesus' ownership of the Earth are systematically eliminated from the Bible.

Revelation 14:5  and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are spotless.  (RSV)

No lie is found in their mouths, they are blameless (NIV)

Revelation 14:5.  And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. KJV

Accountability before God is removed from NIV and RSV. Revelation 22:14. Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. RSV

Revelation 22:14. Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right [to come] to the tree of life, and my enter in by the gates into the city. ASV

Revelation 22:14. “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. NIV

Revelation 22:14. Blessed are theythat do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. KJVThe RSV, ASV and NIV have replaced God's commandments with a soap commercial.Luke 4:8. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only NIV

Luke 4:8. And Jesus answered him, "It is written, `You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.'" RSV

Luke 4:8. And Jesus answering said to him: It is written: Thou shalt adore the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.  DOUAY

Luke 4:8. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. KJVJesus rebuke of Satan is removed.Acts 13:42.And as they went out, they desired them, that on the next sabbath, they would speak unto them these words. DOUAY

Acts 13:42. As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next sabbath RSV

Acts 13:42. As Paul and Barnabaswere leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. NIV

Acts 13:42. And when the Jewswere gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. KJVWho left?

1. They. - Douay RSV
2. Paul and Barnabas - NIV
3. The Jews - KJV

Who wanted to meet the next Sabbath day?

1. They - Douay
2. The people. - RSV NIV
3. The Gentiles. - KJV

When did the Gentiles want to meet?

1. 1st day of the week, Sunday
 2. 7th day of the week, The Sabbath?

Acts 16:7.When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesuswould not allow them to. NIV

Acts 16:7.And when they had come opposite My'sia, they attempted to go into Bithyn'ia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them; RSV

Acts 16:7.And when they were come into Mysia, they attempted to go into Bythynia, and the Spirit of Jesussuffered them not. DOUAY

Acts 16:7. After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. KJVThis subtle change implies that the Spirit is in control of Jesus.

Demon possession teaches that a possessing spirit controls a person rather than a person controlling himself.

Luke 7:33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

John 8:52.  Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil.

Are these translators implying that Jesus "hath a devil"?

1 Corinthians 5:7. Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. DOUAY

1 Corinthians 5:7. Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed. RSV

1 Corinthians 5:7. Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. NIV

1 Corinthians 5:7. Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: KJVWhat is missing?1 Peter 1:22. Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the hear NIV

1 Peter 1:22. Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truthfor a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart. RSV

1 Peter 1:22. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truththrough the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: KJVThrough the Spirit has been deleted.

RSV and NIV translators see no need for the help of the Spirit. Perhaps they think you can obey the truth all by yourself?

This is the power of God denied.

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: DOUAY

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: RSV

2 Timothy 4:1. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: NIV

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; KJVIt is just a little change.

At implies that Jesus will return. Atmeans that the judgment will be at his return rather than at some indefinite time in the future.

By might mean that the judgment took place when he came and died on the cross.

Hebrews 7:21. But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever.) DOUAY

Hebrews 7:21. but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:  “The Lord has sworn  and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ NIV

Hebrews 7:21. Those who formerly became priests took their office without an oath, but this one was addressed with an oath, "The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind, `Thou art a priest for ever.'" RSV

Hebrews 7:21. (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for everafter the order of Melchisedec:) KJVWhat is missing? Only a Levite could be a priest. Jesus was of the Tribe of Judah, therefore the reasoning is that he could not be a priest.

However there was a higher order of priests, the order of Melchisedec.

Perhaps Douay, NIV and RSV want to deny Jesus priesthood.

On the other hand, some churches and even the Masons claim to have priests 'after the order of Melchisedec.

Does deleting these words make their priests of a higher order than Jesus?

John 5:39. You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,  NIV

John 5:39. You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; RSV

John 5:39.  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. KJV

What is the difference? the NIV and RSV are observations whereas the KJV is a command.

Protestant reformers believed it was your Christian duty to search the scriptures. Catholics had priests to do it for them and tell them what the verse means.

The RSV and NIV versions are a step in the Catholic direction.

John 2:11. This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him. RSV

John 2:11. What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of thesigns through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. NIV

John 2:11. This beginning ofmiracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. KJV

Jesus Miracles done away

The KJV uses the word miracles 32 times. The RSV 23 of these miracles have disappeared entirely. In the remaining verses the miracles have been weakened

Matthew 18:2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. NIV

Matthew 18:2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them,

Matthew 18:2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3. And said, Verily I say unto you,Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. KJV

Titus 2:13.

Titus 2:13. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; KJVBy changing the adjective glorious to the noun glory removes the second coming.

It is the glory that comes rather than Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:7. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced him; and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. RSV

Revelation 1:7. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. KJV

"Jesus is coming and boy is he mad."

Jesus coming in vengeance is changed to a feeling sorry for him.

Is it morn in penitent sorrow or morn in expectation of terrible vengeance?

Mark 7:19. Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? KJVIn this verse words were added to the Bible so Christians could have bacon and eggs for breakfast and an Easter Ham dinner at church. Did Christ die on the cross to cleanse pigs of worms?

Luke 23:44-45.  It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun's light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two RSV

Luke 23:44-45.  And darkness covered the whole land till three o'clock owing to an eclipse of the sun. Moffat

Luke 23:44-45.  And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. KJVWas the sun darkened or was there an eclipse? An eclipse only darkens a small area not the whole Earth.

The RSV and Moffat replace a miracle with an eclipse.

An eclipse does not last three hours.

1 Corinthians 7:5. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency. ASV

Revelation 2:19.  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

John 9:4. We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. ASV

John 9:4. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. KJV

Just one little word

In the KJV Jesus is the only one who can do this work.

The ASV, RSV and NIV say we all can do it.

2 Timothy 4:1. I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: ASV

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; KJV

Just one little word again

It it 'at' or 'by'?

Perhaps it is just 'in view of'?

This little change changes the doctrine of Jesus return.

James 5:16.  Therefore confess yoursins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects. RSV

James 5:16.  Therefore confess yoursins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. NIV

James 5:16.  Confess your faultsone to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Hebrews 10:21. and since we have a great priest over the house of God, NIV

Hebrews 10:21. And having an high priest over the house of God; KJVThis expression 'great priest, exalts the priesthood, Jesus just happens to be the greatest of many.

"An high priest" is only one.

This change allows a priesthood.

Acts15:23. With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:  NIV

Church Government.
Separating the priesthood
from the laity.

KJV Apostles, elders and brethern

NIV & RSV Apostles, elders.

This little change established a priesthood (Apostles and Elders) separate from the brethren.

Revelation 13:8. and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. RSVRevelation 13:8. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. KJV

Predestined losers?

In the KJV those who worship the beast are not named in the Lamb's book of life.

In the RSV names were written in the book of life BEFORE the foundation of the world.

1 Corinthians 15:4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scripture RSV ASV NIV1 Corinthians 15:4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: KJVIn the KJV Jesus did it himself. In other Bibles, he had help.

The RSV, ASV, NIV make Jesus somewhat less than God.

John 7:8-9.  Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come." [9] So saying, he remained in Galilee RSVJohn 7:8-9. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. 9.  When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. KJVJesus did go to the feast later. The RSV makes Jesus a liar.Isaiah 7:14. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. RSVIsaiah 7:14. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold,a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. KJVHow could a young woman having a child be a sign? Any young woman could bear a child.Psalms 45:6. Your divine throne endures for ever and ever. Your royal scepter is a scepter of equity; RSVPsalms 45:6. Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. KJVHebrews 1:8. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Changing the wording in the Psalm can be used to deny that Hebrews 1:8 is a quote.

Daniel 3:25. He answered, "But I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods. RSV

Daniel 3:25. He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods! ASV

Daniel 3:25. He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” NIV

Daniel 3:25. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. KJVIt is believed that Jesus is God in this verse. Therefore the RSV, NIV, and ASV  make Jesus somewhat less.Micah 5:2. But you, O Bethlehem Eph'rathah, who are little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days. RSVMicah 5:2. But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whosegoings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. KJVDoesn't saying that Christ has an origin make him a created being?

The RSV would have you believe that Jesus is just very old rather than eternal.

Matthew 1:25. but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus. RSV

Concerning Matthew 1:16 early editions of the RSV have a footnote stating that Joseph was the father of Jesus.

Joke

Jesus to Apostle: "Did you understand what I said?

Apostle: Yes but, then we read the footnotes in our study Bibles.

Matthew 1:25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstbornson: and he called his name JESUS. KJVThis removed the prophecy that Jesus would be born of a virgin.

Isaiah 7:14. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

This change brings into question whether or not Jesus was Immanuel and that Jesus was a first born son.

Luke 2:33. And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him; RSV

Luke 2:33. And his father and mother were wondering at those things which were spoken concerning him. DOUAY

Luke 2:33. The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him. NIV

Luke 2:33. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. KJVSo Jesus no longer has a miraculous birth. And Joseph is Jesus father.

Matthew 13:51. "Have you understood all this?" They said to him, "Yes. RSV

Matthew 13:51. “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked.  “Yes,” they replied. NIV

Matthew 13:51. Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea,Lord. KJVJesus is no longer Lord.

In the NIV "Jesus is Lord" is removed many times.

Matthew 19:16-17.  And behold, one came up to him, saying, "Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?"

[17] And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."

Matthew 19:16-17.  And, behold, one came and said unto him, GoodMaster, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17.  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. KJV

The master is made into a teacher.

In the KJV "Why callest me good is the same as calling Jesus God.

The RSV asks what is good rather than who is good. Goodness is not ascribed to the person.

The RSV "One there is who is good."does not identify Jesus the 'one' who is God.

Matthew 27:35. And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots; RSV

Matthew 27:35. When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. NIV

Matthew 27:35. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. KJVWhy do modern translations do this? Is it to remove proof that Jesus fulfilled prophecy.Mark 15:3. And the chief priests accused him of many things. RSV

Mark 15:3. The chief priests accused him of many things. NIV

Mark 15:3. And the chief priests accused him of many things. ASV

Mark 15:3. And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

Mark 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

This was removed from Mark 15:3 because it was a fulfillment of prophecy.

Likewise Mark 15:28 has been completely removed from the RSV

Luke 4:4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

1 John 4:3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. KJVPerhaps the NIV and RSV were written by those having the spirit if anti Christ as evidenced by their leaving this out.Matthew 6:13. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen. Matthew 27:34-36. They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
35. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
36. And sitting down they watched him there; KJVAgain these antichrists do not want Jesus fulfilling prophecy thus proving he is the messiah so they delete these references.

Psalms 22:18. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Luke 11:2. And he said to them, "When you pray, say: "Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.

Luke 11:2. He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
3.Give us each day our daily bread.
4. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation NIV

Luke 11:2. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3.  Give us day by day our daily bread.
4.  And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that isindebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.KJVIn the NIV and RSV you can pray to the Pope as father. "Our holy father who art in Rome ...." How about that? But the Pope is not in heaven is he?

The religious title father is not allowed.

Matthew 23:9. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Why delete "deliver us from evil"? Humm.

Notice the word is indebted not sin.

A debt is something owed. Sin is violation of law.

Verse 40 is Missing in RSVLuke 24:40. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet KJV Luke 24:51. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.
[52] And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
[53] and were continually in the temple blessing God. RSVLuke 24:50.  And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
51.  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: KJVNo worship in the RSV.

Where was Jesus at this time?

In heaven. (Verse 51)

John 6:33. "For the bread of God isthat which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." NIV

John 6:33. For the bread of God isthat which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world." RSV

John 6:33. For the bread of God ishe which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. KJVThat is a thing - bread. He is a person.

Jesus is systematically removed from modern translations.

John 6:47. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.RSVJohn 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. KJVBelieves what? That a statue is god? That Santa comes on Christmas? Again Jesus is removed from a verse.John 16:16. "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." RSV

John 16:16. Jesus went on to say,“In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” NIV

John 16:16. A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. KJVIn the RSV and NIV Jesus plays hide and seek. Or perhaps he is doing a magic trick.

John 16:23. In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name RSV

Give in my name.

John 16:23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall askthe Father in my name, he will give it you. KJV

Ask in my name.

What is the difference? In the KJV the request is made in Jesus name.

In the RSV the Father gives in Jesus name but you do not need to ask in Jesus name.

Acts 2:30. Whereas therefore he was a prophet, and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne. Douay

Acts 2:30. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne, RSV

Acts 2:30. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; KJV"according to the flesh" is out because these antichrists deny that Jesus came in the flesh.

1 John 4:2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Acts 8:36-38. And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?"
37. (gone)
38. And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. RSV

Acts 8:36-38. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37. And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. KJV

In the RSV nothing keeps a person from being baptized.

In the KJV the person to be baptized does so because he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Again. Jesus is systematically removed from modern translations.

Acts 9:29. He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him Douay

Acts 9:29. He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him.

Acts 9:29. And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.Again. Jesus is systematically removed from modern translations.

Christmas, Xmas or Happy Holidays?

The movement to remove Christ, Christian symbols and The Ten Commandments from public places started long ago in the modern Bible translations.

Romans 14:10. Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God RSV

Romans 14:10. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. KJVJudgment seat of Christ renamed.

1 Corinthians 15:47. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. KJV 1 Timothy 3:16. Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels,
preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. RSV

1 Timothy 3:16. Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:  Heappeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. NIV

1 Timothy 3:16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. KJV

What is the difference. You and I are manifested in the flesh as are all other he and she's. In the KJV it is God who is manifested. Do you see the difference?

1 Peter 4:14. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. NIV

1 Peter 4:14. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. KJV

If ye be reproached

In fact, if you are one of the millions throughout the ages killed because you are a Christian you end up saved in heaven.

Revelation 6:9-10.  And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels,

1 Timothy 3:16. Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: Heappeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit,[d]

1 Timothy 3:16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. KJVThe KJV proves Jesus is God. The newer translations make him somewhat less.

The newer Protestant translations can not be trusted. The Catholics Bibles written to counter the Reformation such as the Douay can not be trusted.
